sunday shopping with mia, wearing vintage olive colored blazer, superfine velvet pants, and guiseppe zanotti suede and leather sneakers. i know ive talked about my love for the rosebowl flea market plenty of times on my blog before, so i wont go into details.. but i will tell you that i found the most amazing cobalt blue varsity jacket in my size today. it even has the name 'maureen' patched onto the sleeve, which kind of adds to the charm of it. cant wait to be maureen for the day and take it out for a spin!

wearing the rainbow laces today. decided to go literal and wear my aa tye die tank with it. i stopped by the post office and next door was a rite aid. i was even compelled to buy a pint of rainbow sherbet ice cream. maybe the laces had something to do with it. or maybe it was because rainbow sherbet has been my favorite flavor since i was a kid. either way, it was delicious.

the hellbounds are officially the tallest shoes i own. and yes, they are suuuuper comfy and easy to walk in. and i would suggest a size up if you get them. they are a bit snug. ive been seeing the hellbounds all over the web mostly worn with jeans and leather pants, but i kinda like them with a girly dress. particularly this feathered number i never wore due to not having the right accessories to 'punk' it up. but it looks like my luck has changed.. thanks hellbounds.

really quick outfit post of my equally quick and easy outfit. nikes are becoming my new go to errand shoe. move over converse, there's a new shoe in town. well, new for me at least.. since i havent touched a pair of nikes since i traded them in for chunky platforms in the 90s. i found these cute little silicone pouches in an array of bright neon colors the other day. i went a little mad and bought every color i could get my hands on. they come in handy on errand days when all i need is my car keys, ID, and credit card.

last night i met my sister's "child" for the first time. meet gizmo! he's adorable, i couldn't resist snapping a photo with him. he put me in such a good mood so when we went out for lunch i decided to wear my brightest brights. i wore the topshop sweater i got in new york and paired it with sobret rochas pants also from new york. the pants are about a foot too long so i had to pin them for the time being until i tailor them. and yes, i know, i totally need to get my nails done.

having a sporty spice moment right now. as seen here. i love the varsity jackets and baseball caps paired with feminine pieces. the simple formula.. varsity jacket + collared shirt + slim trouser + pumps + statement clutch + (baseball hat optional). or go the other route and pair sporty sweatshirt + slim jeans + socks + creepers.perfect.

these are the last photos from new york. visiting the comme des garcons store in chelsea was my favorite part of the trip, and i saved the best for last. the outside of the store is plastered with clever posters and graffiti. we must have stood outside admiring the witty art for at least ten minutes. as soon as you walk through the door you feel like you're boarding a spaceship. the design of the store is so pretty and everything is displayed so artistically. white walls, white tables, white register, it made the clothing really pop. i was instantly drawn to an iridescent leather clutch and had to leave with it. he ended up with a leather embossed wallet. if you're ever in the chelsea area, i would def recommend a trip to the CDG boutique. the staff is awesome and you'll surely walk out with something beautiful.

pretty self explanatory. this revlon jumbo waver is seriously the shit. just crimp (i started right around where my bangs end, i didnt want the wave up too high) then spray with hairspray. i love the big sexy hair volumizing hair spray. and the last step is to tease it out with a round brush. voila!

happy casual friday guys! upon browsing the "baseball jacket" section at forever 21, i discovered that i do in fact like the oh so popular baseball trend going on right now but only if the jacket is bare and has no emblems or patches on it. this was the only one that fit the description. it just feels clean and less cliche to me this way. and of course i had to bring the chloes out of retirement because they go so perfectly with the jacket. i love when that happens.

autumn is my fav time of year. the leaves change color and the air smells so crisp. california autumn is exceptionally wonderful though because its still warm enough to get away with not wearing coats. its the greatest. the sunnies and the bag are things i brought back with me from china. ive never owned anything counterfeit before but these "karen walker" frames are my first. it was kind of a joke purchase since china is so known for their counterfeit things. i even got my friends a pair too. they thought it was hilarious. but seriously its uncanny how every detail of the sunnies right down to the box they came in look exactly like the original. hahaha. anyway, hope you all had a great thanksgiving!

i found this cape at the rosebowl flea market last month. it was love at first sight. the great thing about the rosebowl is the ability to bargain and heckle the vendors. haha just kidding, but really i did manage to get quite a deal on it (my mother taught me well). and these boots are def a staple piece in my fall wardrobe. ive been looking for platformless boots for a while now and these were perfect. the plexi heel pretty much sealed the deal for me. next item to obtain on my fall staple list is a great metallic bag, much like the comme des garcons x cambridge satchel bag. any tips on where to find one would be much appreciated. grazie millie!

quick trend research mood board i did for fall/winter 2012. im taking the minimalist approach. everything needs to go into production by december for next year, you know how production schedules are, always behind even though you think youre caught up. theres something about neons in fall that seem really fresh to me. i want to play around with neoprene and neon plastic or pvc fabric trimming (depending on how much creative freedom i actually get with this). yummm. heres to hoping.

this weather is really giving me whiplash. it was starting to cool down quite a bit the past few days, all of a sudden today was so hot it was appropriate to wear a cropped crochet top. the top and belt i found while i was in san diego. im obsessed with clear accessories so i was ecstatic when i found this belt for 70 cents. the sunnies i got in tokyo over ten years ago. theyre still my favorite till this day.

these are photos from a shoot i styled about a month ago. it was sooo hot that day but we were compelled to put a ton of layers on yuliya. poor girl. somehow when i think of the desert i think of loose, flowing layers.. and fur? i dont know how, but it makes sense in my mind. hahah

clearly i have become obsessed with this bag. upon looking for the gold version i posted about here, i found out they were in fact a collaboration with comme des garcons which makes me THAT much more fond of it. i love the shorter straps which gives it a more handbag type feel but still having the body of a messenger/satchel. if anyone knows where i can find the gold version online, please let me know!

a few shots from the week. weather was nice so i did some blogging in the sunshine in my back yard. lots of exciting new projects im working on as of late. i started an internship with winter kate as an assistant designer. we're designing for fall 2012 right now. learning a ton. also starting a new project with my friend mia. cant talk about it much till we have more things worked out but if it does work out, it will be amazing for us!

transitioning into fall, all ive been wanting to wear is long silhouettes. california weather is still not permitting me to layer as much as i want but slowly and surely the layers will pile on. i think this tunic is probably the best $15 ive invested. ive worn it about a dozen ways already, including wearing it as a bikini cover up, which i think was its original intention.

a bit of shameless self promotion here.. above is the latest issue of runway magazine, out now. it features kelly rowland on the cover (she was always my favorite destiny's child, srsly). you can pick up a copy at all major newstands, barnes & noble, and target. mia cirelli and i styled this editorial featuring bekka gunther. photographer is the always amazing dustin damron. it was shot at an outrageous mansion in OC in which one of the staff dropped an ipod into the pool. lol. anyhow, gotta cut this post short since im literally running out the door!

hello blog, im back! today marks the official day of my graduation! im finally done! which is why im celebrating with a blog post. the above is an editorial i styled along with mia cirelli for runway magazine's summer 2011 issue. this was shot at the santa monica pier, and probably one of the funnest shoots ive done up to date. its an amazing feeling seeing the progression of our work. more good stuff to come..

lots of mishaps along the way. it has become a tradition now that right before coachella, my car gets towed. last year it cost me over a grand to get it out. this year $600. suffice to say i am now penniless but i have my memories to last me a life time. :)
i missed the first day of the fest, but i did make it in time for day two and three. heres what my schedule looked like:

the first half of the shoot are color block looks, the second half are looks that i designed and sewed with really pretty sheer fabrics i found in my neighborhood. i really wish we had done a full story on one concept, but i still really liked the results of the shoot even though the story was chopped up.
